MRFC Fundraiser Success!
All for a good cause and great party the Buccleuch Arms Hotel in Moffat became the focal point for a St. Patrick's Day Bash, the balding of many a lively rugby player head and the riddance of unwanted and wanted body hair. With over 2,000.00 raised to be shared between the Moffat Rams Rugby Club and the Guide Dogs for the Blind the Moffat Rugby Players and one or two staunch supporters went out and raised individual sponsorship for the event which was a roaring success and a great time was had by all. Jamie McDowell, the Captain of the team, said that this was a player's initiative where they wanted to do something for the community and something for the club that has brought them all great pleasure. He thanked House of Beauty and Shonagh's Hair Salon (Both from Moffat) for volunteering their services and professionalism for the cause. Beverages well associated with St. Patrick's Day flowed freely adding to the camaraderie of the occasion." For those of you wanting photos of the evening please click on the download below to view the thumbnails. Take note of the codes of the photos you wish to have let us know at (photos@buccleucharmshotel.com). We will send the origionals, full size to you.
Voted and Judged "Best Place to Eat in Dumfries and Galloway"
On Thursday the 9th of November the Buccleuch was privileged to be given the biggest honour any restaurant can ask for. Threave Gardens set a stunning venue for the Savour the Flavours Food Awards 2006. When the presentation ceremony started fingers were crossed and hopes were high as Nick Nairn started handing out the awards. It came to our categories and it was great to hear the Buccleuch achieve Gold (first place) for the 'Best Starter'. The success continued as we were commended on two of our mains dishes and then to our delight as our name was called out again for 'Best Dessert', attaining Gold. These achievements are a fantastic result for Lara who has worked so hard to get this recognition. Everyone waited with bated breath as they announced the category for Best Place to Eat in Dumfries and Galloway. This award is judged in accumulation of firstly, votes from the public, then by anonymous visits by the judges and lastly by the judging panel. The Buccleuch did it again! To be judged under such scrutiny and to be chosen as Best Place to Eat in D&G really is a fantastic achievement for the Buccleuch and is testament to all the hard work the team have put in and the procurement policies put in place by the hotel guaranteeing quality of product. In announcing the winner Graham Hume said of the Buccleuch, "stashed with traditional local specialities, packed with helpful menus and spiked with stylish inventions, and, most importantly, superbly welcomed by cheerful and well informed waiting staff."
Link with the Community
|
The Buccleuch has a very strong bond with the community of Moffat and plays an active role in being part of and supporting it. Luckily enough this goes hand in hand with a number of community clubs and societies holding their regular events in the Hotel. Listed below are those that welcome all to their regular gatherings: Beat Babies: Bridge Club (Duplicate Bridge): Historical Society: Jazz Evenings:
