BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2015/2016 – Holiday Destination of the Year!
It might come as a surprise to some but certainly not to us! Dumfries and Galloway may not have the isolated drama and or extreme views of the Highlands but it really is a stunningly region with wide expanses of real beauty!
The region was nominated by the expert, Dixie Wells ( an author and journalist, mostly writing green travel pieces for The Guardian) who said this about Dumfries and Galloway,
“an overlooked corner whose time has come!”
We would certainly agree! Apparently there were over 18 000 votes in this category with the success being attributed to tranquil forests, astonishing wildlife, wonderful beaches, lochs and streams, plus the UK’s original Dark Sky Park.
Here’s a selection of thumbnails highlighting the beauty of the region. To see more you can have a look at the “Dumfries and Galloway! What’s Going On?” Instagram Page: www.instagram.com/dgwgo
